I'm Torsten, a passionate card player, collector of historical playing cards, and the person behind GrandOuvert.

My love of card games began in childhood with Mau-Mau and quartet card games. Later, I discovered Skat, Sixty-Six, Rummy and Canasta. Over time, I became fascinated not only by the games themselves but also by their different card designs, artwork and history. Little by little, this curiosity developed into a passion for collecting old playing cards.

Today, what fascinates me most is the incredible diversity of playing cards. Traditional manufacturers, artistic designs and sometimes even the smallest details reveal fascinating aspects of gaming culture and everyday life in times gone by.

With GrandOuvert, I want to share this passion and give special card games and carefully selected collectibles the appreciation they deserve.

In my shop, you'll find original card games from different periods and decades – from rare historical editions to familiar classics of more recent times. The collection also includes selected playing card accessories, specialist literature on the history and culture of playing cards, as well as artworks and distinctive objects inspired by card games.

Care and Attention to Detail

I personally select every item, carefully examine its condition and explore its origins and history. I research manufacturers, dates and distinctive features as accurately as possible. It is important to me to distinguish verified information from assumptions and to describe the condition of every item honestly and transparently.

I am a member of the German Playing Card Society Bube Dame König. Exchanging knowledge and experiences with fellow collectors and experts in playing card history is something I truly value, and it helps me continue learning and expanding my knowledge.
