A beautifully preserved original from the late GDR era: the classic Congress pattern in a combined double-image design featuring both German and French suits.
The cards display vivid colors, clean lines, and the distinctive craftsmanship typical of the VEB Altenburger Spielkarten factory. The “Congress pattern” originated in the 19th century for the first German Skat Congress in Altenburg, aiming to unify regional card designs. Since then, it has remained a unique and historically significant hybrid form.
Particularly appealing is the subtle olive-green back design with a geometric ornament pattern – elegant, balanced, and timeless.
The deck comes in its original transparent plastic case, which not only protects the cards but also makes it ideal for display – perfect for collectors and enthusiasts of traditional Skat culture.
A genuine piece of East German history in outstanding condition – unplayed, authentic, and highly collectible.
