An authentic piece of East German gaming culture: this original Skat deck with French suit was produced by the renowned Altenburg Playing Card Factory (VEB Altenburg), the historic center of playing card manufacturing in the former GDR.
The classic COEUR crown logo represents the craftsmanship and clean design language of the late 1970s. The deck features the popular French suit pattern (Queen, Jack, King) with finely colored figures and a balanced, harmonious aesthetic.
The card backs display the characteristic “9R” design – a green, floral, symmetrical ornament typical of COEUR Skat decks from this period. Produced in Altenburg under the name VEB Altenburger Spielkartenfabrik DDR, the deck reflects the precise offset printing and clear visual style for which Altenburg was well known.
