A beautiful and rare Skat deck by B. Dondorf No. 116 from Frankfurt am Main – a genuine piece of playing card history from the first half of the 1930s.
The deck contains 32 cards in the French suit pattern with corner indices and bears the tax stamp “Deutsches Reich Nr. 2” (Frankfurt tax office), which was used exclusively between 1931 and 1936.

The original box features the well-known Dondorf dragon emblem (BD). The deck belongs to the popular standard series Skat No. 116, which had been part of the Dondorf catalogue since 1924. A particularly striking detail are the gilt card corners, giving the deck an elegant and refined appearance.

Tax stamp “Deutsches Reich Nr. 2” (Frankfurt tax office)

Original tuck box: very well preserved for its age; the closing flap is missing in the opening area

Card size: approx. 92 × 62 mm, with gilt corners

Card backs: red floral design

This set tells a story: it was produced before the takeover by ASS Altenburg in 1933, during the final independent production phase of the renowned Dondorf factory in Frankfurt. For its age, the deck remains in remarkably good condition – a true treasure for collectors, lovers of antique playing cards, and anyone who appreciates the charm of historical gaming culture.

The deck has been carefully inspected and stored and is offered in the condition described above.
