A well-preserved Skat set from the late DDR period, combining traditional Altenburg playing cards with a high-quality leather case. Produced in 1986, this set represents both functional craftsmanship and the everyday culture of East German game production.

The case was manufactured by VEB Schreibgeräte BT Kleinlederwaren in Waltershausen and made from genuine pigskin leather with a finely textured surface and a gold-colored metal zipper. Inside, a black leather lining and a brown holding strap securely fix the deck in place. The word “Skat” is subtly embossed on the exterior.

The included deck originates from the VEB Altenburger Spielkartenfabrik and features the classic German pattern (Eichel, Grün, Herz, Schellen) in traditional double-figure design. The cards are unplayed and still sealed in original cellophane. The back design shows a red geometric clover pattern, typical of DDR production from the 1970s–1980s.

An original label confirms the production year 1986.

Originally designed as a refined gift or travel set for Skat players, this ensemble today stands as an authentic collectible of East German craftsmanship and playing card history.
