A characteristic piece of playing card history: this original Altenburg Skat deck No. 49 was produced by the VEB Altenburger Spielkartenfabrik (district of Leipzig) and dates to the late 1960s.

The deck features the traditional Saxon pattern, one of the oldest German card designs – rich in detail, vivid in color, and rooted in long-standing craftsmanship. The figures are depicted in ornate clothing with feathered hats, reflecting the distinctive visual language for which Altenburg playing cards are still renowned today.

The reverse shows the classic blue-and-white grid pattern – a timeless design immediately recognizable among collectors.

A nostalgic collector’s item – ideal for enthusiasts of historical DDR playing cards, Skat players, and vintage collectors.
