An original Skat card game from the 1940s presented in a decorative wooden box – a rare collector’s piece for enthusiasts of historic playing cards.

The card set was produced by the Vereinigte Altenburger und Stralsunder Spielkartenfabriken (ASS) and bears the original ASS stamp “Deutsches Reich”. It contains a complete Skat deck with the classic Prussian double-head pattern.

The 32 playing cards plus one additional good-luck card measure approx. 57 × 100 mm and feature a blue-and-black checkered card back. The cards are in very good condition, with no creases or tears.

The accompanying wooden box (approx. 12.3 × 9.3 × 3.4 cm) is decorated with a cross inlay and stands on four small feet. It also dates from the 1940s and is in an exceptionally well-preserved condition for its age. Beyond its practical function as storage, it serves as an attractive decorative object reflecting the tradition of German playing-card culture.
