This Tarock and Schafkopf deck was produced in the 1940s by the Vereinigte Altenburger und Stralsunder Spielkartenfabriken and represents a characteristic example of German playing card production from the wartime and transitional period.
The combination of the ASS tax stamp, the classic Bavarian double-headed court design, and the traditional coat-of-arms back makes this deck a sought-after historical artifact of German playing card culture.
